NOTICE: Discontinued services for Meno Weecheeheeway Patient Navigator Services in Sioux Lookout and Winnipeg

Discontinued Service Effective Friday, April 10th, 2026

Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) respectfully advises First Nations communities and partners across Northwestern Ontario that the Meno Weecheeheeway Patient Navigator services formerly available in Sioux Lookout, ON and Winnipeg, MB have been discontinued due to non-renewal of funding from Indigenous Services Canada.

SLFNHA recognizes the importance of these supports to individuals and families traveling away from home for medical reasons. Attached is a contact list of other navigators in those locations that can assist First Nation clients by helping them navigate health services while away from their home communities. This change is deeply regretted.

For all SLFNHA communities, the program will continue to operate in Thunder Bay, ON by calling our toll-free number 1-855-218-4605.

Patient Navigator services include advocacy, communication support in the First Nation language of choice, assistance with appointments, support related to Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB), support and advocacy with medications, and return transportation.
