History

Onaman Ziibi opened its doors June 21, 2022, and was purchased in December 2021. It is located at 2195 on Hwy 664, an approximate 16-minute drive from Sioux Lookout, Ontario. The camp has 8 cabins and can accommodate 36 people comfortably. Onaman Ziibi sits on the river’s edge of Vermillion River which flows from Big Vermillion Lake and into Pelican Lake.

  • Traditional Territory
    Onaman Ziibi is located on the Traditional territory of Obishikokaang First Nation (Lac Seul First Nation). Obishikokaang is an Ojibwe First Nation band government located on the southeastern shores of Lac Seul, 39 kilometres (24 mi) northwest of the town of Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Obishikokaang First Nation is a treaty signatory to Treaty 3, the First Nation is a member of the Independent First Nations Alliance, a regional tribal council, and a member of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation.
  • Anishinaabewaadiziwin
    The creation of the Anishinaabewaadiziwin department is to better coordinate culture related efforts. The Traditional Healing program runs out of Onaman Ziibi and offers traditional methods and approaches to healing, services, and supports. The traditional healing program offers Traditional Teachings, Language Teachings, Traditional Protocols, Ceremonies, Celebrations and Sacred Circles. Cabin 1
  • 1 bedroom, sleeps 2 (1 bunkbed – one single on the top and 1 double on the bottom) including one pullout couch in the living room.
Cabin 2
  • 2 bedrooms, sleeps 4 (2 single beds in each bedroom)
Cabin 3
  • 2 bedrooms, sleeps 6 (1 bunk bed in one bedroom – one single on the top and 1 double on the bottom and other bedroom has 2 bunk beds – each with one single on the top and 1 double on the bottom)
  • Wheelchair assessible 
Cabin 4
  • 3 bedrooms, sleeps 6 (1 bunk bed in one bedroom – one single on the top and 1 double on the bottom and other bedroom has 2 bunk beds – each with one single on the top and 1 double on the bottom) including one pullout couch in the living room.

  • 2 bedrooms, sleeps 4 with 2 single beds in each bedroom.
Cabin 8

  • 2 bedrooms, sleeps 4 with 2 single beds in each bedroom.
Cabin 10
  • 2 bedrooms, sleeps 4 with 2 single beds in each bedroom.

Camp Rules

  • In the event of emergency please call 911.
    Absolutely NO Drugs or Alcohol allowed at the camp.
    Please take caution while crossing the highway, children must be accompanied by an adult to cross the highway. No Exceptions!
    No smoking/vaping on SLFNHA property, smoke/vape in designated area only.
    There is no Wi-Fi in the cabins, Wi-Fi can be accessed from the main lodge.
    Please keep the cabins clean as housekeeping is not available.
    Notify camp staff if you require garbage/recycling pick up.
    There are more movies in the main lodge that can be borrowed for cabins. If you need anything during your stay, please reach out to camp staff. i.e., towels, bedding, toilet paper…etc.
    In case of evacuation, please gather at the muster point appointed to your location.

    Checkout is at 11am.
    Check-in is at 3pm.
