Mamaw Kimiciminan Indigenous Food Sovereignty Gathering

Registration is now open Mamaw Kimiciminan Indigenous Food Sovereignty Gathering! The three-day, land-based, knowledge-sharing event that is a blend between a conference and a cultural camp. The gathering takes place September 1-3, 2026 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Centered on mamaw kimiciminan (“our foods” in Anishiniimowin) and First Nations communities in Northern Ontario, the gathering will:

  • Bring together Elders, youth, knowledge carriers, food champions, and community leaders;
  • Celebrate the rich food knowledge we carry;
  • Strengthen Indigenous food systems across the region;
  • Share teachings, build skills, and reinforce Indigenous knowledge systems;
  • Advance sustainable, culturally grounded food systems; and
  • Address food insecurity and climate impacts.
