The Real Property Cleaner will report to the Real Property Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Real Property Cleaner is responsible to keep the SLFNHA buildings at a high standard of cleanliness.

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Strenuous physical activity (walking, standing, lifting etc.)
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds
  • On feet most of the workday
  • Pushes, pulls and lifts
  • Exposed regularly to infection when entering rooms
  • Working with cleaning products (Chemicals)
  • Working with general public
  • Needle exposure

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily cleaning of Clinical space and office areas while following cleaning checklist
  • Weekly, monthly, yearly cleaning routines (include regular checks including needle boxes and soap dispensers)
  • Request supplies or pick up supplies as needed
  • Education component throughout the year includes Health and Safety, Hostel/department policy/procedures and workshop
  • Participate in training of new staff if necessary
  • Fill out maintenance requisition or call maintenance with concerns and equipment breakdowns
  • Participate in and monitor quality improvement projects and audits
  • Be available for call-in lists as needed
  • To be flexible in the job routine and be challenged by new requests and ongoing changes to the job as delegated by the Manager or other department as needed
  • Responsible for taking reasonable care to protect the Health and Safety of yourself and others, by practicing and promoting safe work habits, by using personal protective equipment and reporting unsafe acts or conditions to your manager
  • Any other duties assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Will consider life experience/skills related to this position
  • Some experience in housekeeping an asset
  • Ability to work on your feet all day
  • Ability to work various shifts
  • Must be an independent and self-motivated worker
  • Ability to learn WHMIS
  • Ability to complete general office duty maintenance
  • Ability to complete the duties of this position on a regular basis

Background

The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to elementary school. The person reads and understands simple instructions, and/or can count, add and subtract.
