Job Summary:

The Dispatch Clerk is responsible for dispatching all client ground transportation in the Sioux Lookout area, coordinating delivery service and directing all transportation to NIHB Clerks. The Dispatch Clerk will also be responsible for arranging transportation for discharged prior approved CSD clients when non-insured staff is not available.

Starting Salary Rate: $24.928 per hour

Applicants must possess:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Familiar with the NIHB transportation program
  • Knowledge and commitment to the services provided by the Client Services Department
  • Ability to work with people in a public service environment
  • Grade 12 education

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Fax all discharge papers to NIHB between 8am-4pm daily
  • Dispatch and coordinate all ground transportation for clients while in Sioux Lookout
  • Update and maintain pick up list
  • Ensure the clients are met in a timely manner, delivered to their appropriate destination and are connected to their appointment or agency
  • Ensure Driver/Interpreters are aware of all known client conditions that require special attendance and care
  • Maintain contact with the Airport Interpreter to advise the clerk of all incoming and outgoing clients
  • Overall arranging of client transportation when NIHB is closed after hours
  • Scheduling client air transportation as approved by NIHB
  • Arrange for other client transportation outside of Sioux Lookout when necessary and if it is approved by NIHB after NIHB is closed
  • Liaison with NIHB, accommodations and airport interpreter, drivers and other service providers
  • Book all Thunder Bay and Winnipeg trips using NIHB screen
  • Write up and submit incident reports to appropriate departments
  • If clients miss flight, ensure to send them to Patient Liaison Services Worker – if not available to Team Leader
  • Ensure hostel vans are in working conditions and report to management for oil change any other maintenance issues
  • Participate and contribute to regular staff development activities and staff meetings
  • Work as a team member with co-workers, SLFNHA staff and other organizations
  • Assist with luggage when required
  • Provide assistance when required and any other duties assigned
