Job Summary:
The Senior Transportation Driver will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Transportation Team leader as well completing the duties of the ground transportation driver and Dispatch Clerk.

Starting Salary: $28.614 per hour

Applicants must possess:

  • Completed Secondary Education preferred but will consider life experience/skills related to this position.
  • Clean drivers abstract consideration will be given to minor convictions
  • Must have a valid G Class Ontario Driver’s License
  • Must have a sensitive, out-going and caring attitude in working with First Nations medical clients
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A defensive driving course would be a definite asset
  • Ability to speak in a First Nations dialect of the Sioux Lookout Zone (Ojibway, Cree and/or Oji-Cree) is a definite asset
  • Must be willing to take additional training as directed by the Hostel Manager

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibilities of Transportation/Dispatch/Airport Interpreter Team Leader when absent
  • Complete administrative duties such as filing, maintain and complete data entry of electrical and non electrical records ie. circle checks, mileage and van tracking sheets, Wheelchair van tracking sheet, gas, client lists
  • Schedule routine maintenance of vehicles
  • Assist with larger/special projects
  • Act as cover for the Dispatch Clerks and Transportation Driver when needed as per relevant job description
  • Work with other SLFNHA departments such as Finance for the smooth running of the Transportation department
  • Maintain and use the fogging machine on SLFNHA vehicles
  • Creating and making internal documents available to drivers such as time sheets, mileage forms, transportation lists
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of new hires
  • Invoicing of PHCU for services used
  • Write up and submit incident reports to appropriate departments
  • Participate and contribute to regular staff development activities and staff meetings
  • Work as a team member with co-workers, SLFNHA staff and other organizations
  • All other duties as assigned
