Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Team leader the Senior Security Personnel is responsible to assist in the smooth running of the security department.
Qualifications:
- Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment).
- The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis.
- Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
- Written and oral communication skills acceptable to the employer that meet the requirements of the role of Senior Security Personnel
- Previous experience working in security in healthcare setting preferably with supervisory duties.
- Completion of, or the ability to complete, security training and/or Provincial security licensing.
- Completion of a post-Secondary education in police services would be an asset.
- Ability to remain calm, use good judgement and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
- Must be available for all shifts, Shifts include early morning, days, evenings and weekends.
- Position involves long periods of standing, and some heavy lifting.
- The ability to work independently, as well as in a team.
- Good interpersonal skills, with ability to motivate employees.
- Attention to details and report writing skills, ability to use computers, and MS office and other reporting software.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist Team leader / Oversee all security within SLFNHA hostel’s, including the entry and exit of staff, Clients, and visitors.
- Assist with monitoring and managing security personnel, ensuring that they are performing their duties effectively and efficiently.
- Conduct regular patrols of the hostel’s premises, identifying and responding to any potential security threats.
- Assist with the Development and implementation of security procedures and protocols to ensure the safety of all staff, clients, and visitors.
- Investigate any security incidents and report findings,
- Maintain a record of all security-related incidents and provide timely reports to Team Leader.
- Liaise/co-operate and assist OPP/paramedics with differing situations at the hostels.
- Provide regular security training to staff and conduct/assist with security staff meetings.
- Participate in the hiring of new Security Personnel
- Ensure all “Security personnel” engage with clients and provide an excellent client experience.
- Complete all duties of a Security Personnel as set out in the Security personnel job description.
- In Team Leader absence, cover duties of Team Leader, and provide regular updates to CSD Management
- Assist clients as needed, including or for example … “Assist client with luggage and bags on arrival and departure of the hostels”.
- Attend all meetings as required.
