The Receptionist/Secretary is responsible for performing administrative and clerical support services for the Hostel department.


  • Previous experience in a clerical field an asset 
  • Experience with Microsoft Word computer software
  • Previous experience working in the Sioux Lookout Zone health care system would be a definite asset 
  • Ability to speak a First Nation dialect is a definite asset 
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette 
  • Must have good people skills to deal with the public


Perform regular receptionist, secreterial and office duties by: 

  • Answering incoming calls and directing calls to appropriate staff 
  • Receiving clients and the public and ensuring they are in a comfortable environment while in the waiting area
  • Ensuring the reception and coffee area are always neat and tidy 
  • Bulletin boards are to be kept with up-to-date information 
  • Ordering of office and coffee supplies as needed 
  • Responsible for ensuring that all equipment is in good working order 
  • Ordering of all printer and fax toners for this building and keeping an inventory of what is on hand 
  • Receive incoming and outgoing mail/faxes and record in log 
  • Typing, faxing, copying as requested by management staff 
  • Shredding, photocopying, and faxing as required
  • Ensuring paper is always restocked in copier and fax
  • Replenishing of forms, updating forms as required
  • Responsible for keeping supply and copier room neat and stocked 
  • Keep the internal phone list up-to-date and distribute to staff as changes occur 
  • Do business cards for all SLFNHA staff
  • Assisting the Administrative Assistant as required
