Payroll Clerk

Deadline: Sep 30th - 4:30pm
Location: Sioux Lookout, ONCommitment: Full Time

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for the Payroll and related duties in the Finance office. The incumbent must have an understanding of accounting concepts, working knowledge of ACCPAC as well as an understanding of the payroll process.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12
  • Diploma/Certificate in a Finance or Business program preferred
  • Minimum two years of payroll experience
  • Experience in data entry a definite asset 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, organizational and planning skills 
  • Must be willing and able to work as part of a team 
  • Must be able to work independently in a high paced environment 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 
  • Working knowledge of AccPac accounting software 
  • Must have experience and understanding of First Nations culture, and of the geographic realities and social conditions within remote First Nations communities 
  • Ability to speak one of the First Nations dialects within the Sioux Lookout Zone an asset 
  • Must be willing to relocate and live in Sioux Lookout

Responsibilities: 

  • Completes payroll on a bi-weekly basis 
  • Maintains all payroll files
  • Payroll orientation for new employees
  • Issues cheques for Pension/WSIB and any other payrolll liabilities 
  • Issue ROEs as required
  • Issues manual payroll cheques upon direction form the Director of Finance
  • It is expected all clerks will learn portions of the other finance positions in order to create flexibility within the department to cover holidays and sick time
