On-Call Worker, Nodin

Nodin CFI On-Call Service is an after hour service that provides monitoring and mental health counselling and monitoring services after regular office hours, Monday to Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and 24 hours on weekends and statutory holidays. On-Call workers also assist with the initial phases of community crisis coordination. Clients are seen by the on-call worker at the Nodin CFI office between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekends and statutory holidays only, as required. The On Call Worker reports to Nodin’s Intake Supervisor but during shifts is supervised by an On Call Clinical Supervisor.


  • Background in Mental Health
  • Degree or certificate diploma in the social work field
  • Experience working with the First Nations Communities
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License
  • Must provide a Criminal Record Check
  • Current First Aid & CPR- Adult and Child Certificate will be an asset
  • Professional integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
  • Thorough understanding of the Child & Family Services Act and Mental Health Act
  • Experience with and understanding of Duty to Report
  • Experience with crisis management, case management, and working with high risk clients
  • Good working knowledge and experience in time management, organizational skills and local resources
  • Ability to provide emergency assessments and provide written recommendations for follow-up
  • Ability to communicate in one or more of the First Nations dialects of the Sioux Lookout District will be an asset
  • Must work independently and with limited supervision
