COVID-19 Public Health Notification – COVID-19 Cases in Lac Seul First Nation

The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) has been notified that there are three cases of COVID in Lac Seul First Nation. Individuals are currently isolating in the community. Case and contact management has started and the SLFNHA Preventing Infectious Diseases (PID) team will closely monitor the situation.

We must continue to remain vigilant in our efforts to keep the virus out of the communities. Two key strategies include: getting the vaccine, whether it’s your first, second, or third dose, and adhering to all public health measures. We continue to emphasize the importance of choosing the COVID-19 vaccine.

We would like to remind communities that even those who have had the COVID vaccine still could get the virus, but evidence suggests they experience less severe illness. It is strongly recommended that all individuals continue to follow all public health measures. This includes those who have taken the first shot or who have been fully vaccinated.

If you have any community member with symptoms that could be caused by COVID-19, please contact your nursing station to be assessed as soon as possible. With the holiday season approaching, we recommend travel only to low-risk areas in Canada.
